Transferring a domain from one registrar company to another traditionally entails the use of a unique transfer code, which different registrar companies refer to as an EPP authorization code, a domain password or an Auth-Info code. This code can be used as a safety mechanism against unsanctioned transfers with all gTLD and with most ccTLD extensions. The code can be obtained only by the owner of the specific domain name and is provided by the current registrar. It must be given to the new registrar because the transfer process cannot be initiated without it. The code is case-sensitive and traditionally includes numbers and special characters, so as to prevent unauthenticated persons from cracking it. Certain registrars even alter the codes of domains registered through them after a certain amount of time for even greater security.

EPP Transfer Protection in Web Hosting

In case you’ve got a web hosting service, you’ve registered a domain name through us and you want to transfer it away, you can get its EPP authentication code with less than a couple of mouse clicks. When you log in to your Hepsia Control Panel and visit the Registered Domains section, you will see all the domains that you have registered through us listed in alphabetical order. Next to each domain, you will see a mini EPP icon for all extensions that require an EPP code in order to be transferred between companies. Clicking on the icon will send the EPP code to the registrant’s email address momentarily. In the same section you can also find and eventually modify the email, if the one there isn’t valid anymore.

EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

You can easily get the transfer authorization code for any domain name registered under a semi-dedicated server account if you decide to transfer it. This can be achieved through the same Control Panel, via which you manage your account, so you won’t have to log in and out of different Control Panel tools. All you need to do is go to the Control Panel’s domain management section and click the EPP button associated with the domain name that you would like to transfer, provided that its TLD extension supports transfers with a code. Our system emails all codes automatically to the domain name owner’s email address listed in the domain name’s WHOIS record, so if the email address that is currently listed is out of date, you can edit it with a couple of clicks of the mouse without even leaving the domain management section of the Control Panel.
